About Luka?
the-jokers-rose:
I’m drawing a blank here, but do we know which mode(s) Luka will show up in? It seems like the Suspense mode makes the most sense - like his appearance in each of those routes is the reason for the alternate timeline. Hm hm hm, maybe I’ve just been speculating too much. First I was thinking that he might be someone connected to Rika as a family member. Then I got to thinking that he might be a deity like Neil. I also considered that maybe he is somehow an acquaintance of each Waka in the different worlds. But the chance is good that he is none of these things and he’s really just a normal guy whose story is a lot simpler than that.
Ah, how am I going to survive this torturous wait?!
Ooh, good one.. a deity like Neil…
*thinks*
I’ve a feeling he’s at least some kind of special, or he won’t be put in… an acquaintance of Waka seems interesting. Someone who knows the deities and fairies and the heroine’s amnesia would be more interesting. Someone who is the lord of all deities and was the one who punished Neil and Orion by making them human in would definitely be the most interesting, especially since he looks like a royal with that heavy coat of his (he looks like tried to disguise himself as an ordinary everyday guy but failed because he liked that coat too much ahaha xD).
Going with the idea that he might be the lord creator of deities… maybe he came to each world to check on them, maybe he came to see what’s the fuss with the heroine and the accident, since it’s quite obvious Neil broke some deity laws fulfilling Ukyo’s wish if he’s being punished.
Also, Luka’s an artist who likes beautiful things… guess who’s the best artist in the world? Nature aka the one god, creator of the worlds (and deities and fairies).
Another thing is the holly that winds around his coat. Reading different websites from different sources, though they differ in meaning all of them agree that the holly has some sort of sacred significance of power. The red of holly berries symbolise blood of Christ, or it was worn by druids and considered magical and sacred, or it represents the power of life overcoming winter, or it represented the sun god Saturn in ancient Rome (remember, Ukyo’s symbol is the Moon, Orion is the Star… we’re missing the Sun), the holly has protective properties … stuff like that. So the holly is kind of hinting at his more-than-human special status imo.
*sigh* …and after all that intense speculating I’m just going to sit here. Is it even possible that I might be right? I was hoping he’d be a villain, but it doesn’t look the case… sacred significance huh… the holly does feel like a very deliberate hint I can’t believe I didn’t see that before. They made his design so simple and dull coloured compared to everyone else’s heavily patterned design, then they wound the bright red berries around his shoulders where it’s so visible. Like the meaning of the holly is the only thing that matters about him. (Also, in Japan, isn’t it that the more powerful a person, the more understated they will present themselves? If he really is THE god of deities, then he needs no further design or patterning.)
Or maybe Luka is just a normal superstitious rich artist guy who likes Christmas and believe the holly protects him. I don’t know, but I’ll be severely disappointed after working myself up like this. XD
