Hay thar. I'm a 20+ year old art student and this is my personal blog.
It's mainly to reblog stuff that interest me, which include
Be warned, I spam a lot of stuff everyday in here, your dash will be several pages longer. BE VERY WARNED. I also sometimes post some NSFW things.Main blog: ones-inspiration, which is my art/animation/writing blog thing for references and art stuff.
Sometimes I don't know if I offended someone or not by their reactions (it's hard to tell online) so... just to let you know I don't mean it, don't take it to heart. I don't joke about things, or purposely write some trolling/flame-attracting messages (unless I'm pissed off and looking for a fight, which is rare). If it seems that way, I probably phrased my words wrong or spoke too bluntly. Please be forgiving if I've made such an error.
Think Phantom Pain’s sniper is showing too much skin? Allow us to ruin that for you.
I think I liked that other male Quiet a lot better
Here is part two of our photo set done with teadrunktailor!
It is great to see a lot of detail put into the cosplay in everything from the outfit and props, to the way make up is done! Absolutely stunning!
Friggin’ amazing! It was a total thrill to work withakamapleon Saturday. Thanks for such absolutely wonderful photos! I will definitely be keeping an eye open for your time slots at Edmonton Expo! (The first one there gives me ALL the feels)
Sobbing over how amazing my friends are. These photos are so GOOD.
omFG I’M TRYING NOT TO LAUGH MY FRIEND IS SLEEPING ASDFGH
I like the guy on the bench who just dies instantly after seeing him. No time to process it, just falls over and dies.
I love you.
Please stay tuned for a lengthy post.
Most of you know me by the internet handle “Miss Sinister”. If you don’t know of me, here’s a summary:
- I heart makeup
- No cosplay is off limits.
I have cosplayed Vaas (Farcry), Motoko Kusanagi (Ghost in the Shell), Sagat (Street Fighter), Saeko Busujima (HoTD), and many more. Roughly half the cosplays I have done are male. I can’t help what characters I like, so if they’re male, they’re still going on my list of things to cosplay.
When I say male cosplays, I don’t always mean a rule 63 version. I actually fancy crossplays more. Not only is it more challenging to pull off, but typically more appealing to wear comfort-wise. Being intimidating and/or scary is incredibly fun for me which is why none of my rule 63 cosplays are simply “sexy”… they still need that edgy “I could still kill you” vibe.
It’s pretty difficult finding females that are head-strong, kick ass, could easily take on the men, all while NOT being overly-sexualized. This is why the male cosplays/rule 63’s appeal to me so much.
I feel the characters I hold dearest deserve the highest form of flattery - perfect imitation. This will help determine if a male cosplay is going to get genderbent, or crossplayed. The characters I treasure most (Dragunov, Pein, Kakuzu, and Orochimaru for example) will get the complete male transformation/ screen accurate look. Not to say any other character is “lesser”, but for characters like Sagat, with a completely bare chest, I can’t really do a crossplay due to needing to cover my upstairs lady bits.
Another tidbit about me is this : I adore makeup. It’s a gateway to becoming a completely different person. Changing the way you look on a whim is such an appealing idea to me (I should have been born Mystique).
I rarely wear a lot of makeup in public/to work, but when I get home and my creative juices are flowing (giggity), I can’t help but want to become Darth Maul (for example) and I’ll sit there in front of my mirror for 3 hours perfecting a cosplay look, just to wash it off after 10 minutes of making sure I got the perfect selfie to post on my facebook / Instagram / Deviantart / etc.
This is where the topic heats up:
I can’t stand it when people attempt to limit my creative ability. Any restriction on what I can and cannot do is an instant turn-off.
That even goes for something as simple as contact lenses. “But you have such nice eyes, you shouldn’t wear contacts.” THIS ISN’T A BEAUTY PAGEANT. Wonder Woman’s eyes are an obvious blue. SO MINE WILL BE TOO. Eyes are a big deal for me. They are the gateway to the soul-searching something quite powerful. In most photos, they’re the focal point, so if they’re off (color, makeup, etc), the cosplay also looks as such, IMO.
Recently, I posted a makeup test of a female engineer:
Now… during this makeup my eye started to water so badly that the makeup was smearing. I took a photo mid-way, and posted this to my fanpage. This is one of the comments (and my response) that I got:
*ultimate sigh* This is pretty self explanatory.
Yes, the lovely ladies I have the pleasure of calling my friends often cosplay as attractive characters. If they’re male characters, they will often times still find a way to make it attractive. Is that wrong?
That’s just how they have fun cosplaying. And that’s literally the idea behind any hobby: having fun. I understand those that go for the attractive cosplays. I have been down that road a few times before. In one circumstance I was in something that wasn’t even that revealing by today’s standards, and got physically harassed at a con. For someone to know what they’re potentially getting into, and still press on for the love of the character….That’s brave.
Now is this how I like to cosplay? Kind of depends on my mood. But by no means is it my focal point to be desirable in the eyes of the convention attendees or the folks on the internet. As stated earlier: If I’m going to be doing ANY character, there must still be a certain level of intimidation.
This is not a jab at “Sexy Cosplay”, this is just me saying how important my way of expressing myself is to me. And when I get comments like the one shown above over and over, I need me a good rant every now and then.
It just frustrates me that there are still people out there with the notion that all female (or male for that matter) cosplayers must be attracive in their eyes. But, with the internet pretty easily accessible, I realize this will never happen.
^ BUT I WILL STILL COSPLAY AS ONE.
*IF* I WANTED TO BE FILI FROM THE HOBBIT, YOU’RE GODDAMN RIGHT I WILL ROCK THE SHIT OUT OF THAT MAJESTIC FUCKING BEARD AND NO ONE/NO OPINION WILL STOP ME.
Ah, sexy cosplays. They’re good looking, but after the hundredth cosplay of a pretty girl or muscle guy and no change in expression nor any attempt to experiment, I just find it boring. If you wanted to be Fili, I’ll be here to admire that majestic fucking beard. *insta follow*
That engineer makeup is amazing btw
