normal person: watches a movie, likes it a lot, the end
me: watches a movie, likes it a lot, becomes obsessed with it, falls madly in love with at least one character in it, makes artwork and writes fan fiction based off of it, devotes countless hours to blogging, talking, and flailing about it, cries and rolls around on the floor at least once per day because of how much I love it, dies of emotional reaction to it, the end.

hato fanart idea: Everyday Life In The Age Of Birds

  • streets full of flying/walking birds instead of cars!
  • bird supermarkets full of seeds and beans and bugs…and fruit for the parrots…and meat for the raptors, I guess?
  • hence there’s also got to be bird farmers growing all that food!
  • lions and tigers and giraffes weren’t affected by the uplift, so somebody’s got to be taking care of all the zoo animals, right? so there must be bird zookeepers!
  • if teenage birds go to high school, then there must be bird elementary schools, which would be adorable
  • tourist birds, possibly in hawaiian shirts
  • how would overseas travel work for them, anyway? They can all fly short distances (except the penguins and the rattites and some of the poultry) but what if a pigeon from the Americas wanted to see her dodo relatives’ home in Mauritius? And we’ve got French and Japanese bird families intermarrying in canon.  So do they still use airplanes—which would be *delightful* to see pictures of—or do they just take a really long time to do a series of short flights?  Or maybe they’ve gone back to boats for long journeys…
  • bird linguists teaching sign language to the kakapos? (the game said they’re just smart enough to be housebroken, which sounds sort of like they’re the gorillas to the pigeons’ humans???)

and a bajillion other things which I may try to draw, and I’d love to see somebody else draw too

I’d love to see a migration of a bird family, and the kids flying behind their parents in a V shape would be all like “Are we there yet?” xD

And I can imagine there’d be Segways and scooters downsized and adjusted for birds, and they’d perch on the handles and go motoring down the roads at 30 km/hr [like what Moa drew for Azami] XD

Local Guys

cosmicsynchronicity:

Got back from my trip to Laughlin today. It was a lot of fun.

On one of the days, we decided to walk down the river-walk from hotel to hotel. While doing that, I happened to notice a group of locals.

There was one that I immediately met eyes with, and he was pretty good looking too. We locked eyes and he didn’t look away. Of course, I got embarrassed, as I often do, but I approached him and his group of friends anyways. His friends seemed to notice something was up and moved away when I got close, but he didn’t move an inch. He just kept looking at me.

But you know me: I’m incredibly awkward. So I quietly asked him if I could take his picture. He had no objections so I did:

I only did it because I was so interested in him. You see, I live mostly by a bunch of mourning doves, and I don’t see a lot of pigeons nearby, but any pigeons I do happen to meet are usually very shy and fly away before I can say anything. But this guy kept eye contact with me and didn’t get weirded out by my awkward forwardness. I felt like there was some kind of connection. Maybe it was meant to be? ;D

Anyways, I took the picture and quietly thanked him as I left.

The people I was with looked at me like I was crazy.

XDXD<3<3
